Individual Therapy
Therapy that is tailored for a patient/client that is administered one-on-one.Mental health problems are real. They affect ones' thoughts, body, feelings, and behavior. They can be severe, seriously interfere with a person's life, and even cause a person to become disabled. Individual therapy is tailored for a patient/client that is administered one-on-one whether it be in the home, office or school. Goals for therapy may be specific (e.g. change in behavior, improved relations with family or friends), or more general (e.g. less anxiety, better self-esteem).
Family Therapy
A form of therapy typically with entire family group, sometimes with individuals, that involves discussions and problem solving sessions.Family therapy is facilitated by a therapist, sometimes with the entire family group and sometimes with individuals. Family Therapy helps family members improve their understanding of, and the way they respond to, one another. This type of therapy can resolve patterns of behavior that might lead to more severe mental illness. It can also help educate individuals about the nature of mental disorders and teach them skills to cope better with the effects of having a
family member with a mental illness (e.g. how to deal with feeliings of anger or guilt).
Couples Counseling
Facilitated by a therapist, couples therapy can help couples improve their understanding of each other and, the way
that they respond to one another.Couples counseling involves discussion and problem-solving sessions facilitated by a therapist. At times it may include both partners and sometimes with individuals. This type of therapy can help couples improve their understanding of each other and, the way that they respond to one another. It may also resolve patterns of behavior that might lead to more severe mental illness.
Group Therapy
Group therapy involves groups of usually 4 to 12 people who have similar problems.Group therapy involves groups of usually 4 to 12 people, typically of similar age, who have similar problems and who meet regulary with a therapist. The therapist uses the emotional interactions of the group's members to help them get relief from distress and possibly modify their behavior.
Play Therapy
Geared toward young child to help them communicate and resolve problems.Play Therapy is geared toward young children (as young as two) and uses a variety of activities-such as painting, puppets, and dioramas (a re-creation of a natural setting which shows a specific moment in time) - to establish communication with the therapist and resolve problems. Play allows the child to express emotions and problems that would be too difficult to discuss with another person.
One example of a play therapist referral might be: a 5 year-old who is having trouble separating from mom and
going to kindergarten. There are many more examples of more intense needs such as sexual or parental abuse
Psychological Evaluation
We can provide insight in to a referral for a Psychological Evaluations which utilizes standardized psychological and psycho-educational texas instruments to assist in the diagnostic process which leads to subsequent treatment recommendations. Psychological Evaluations utilize standardized psychological and psycho-educational test instruments to assist in the diagnostic process which leads to subsequent treatment recommendations. They are conducted by licensed psychologists and psychological examiners. This service may be requested by schools, courts, other mental health agencies, primary care physicians, and treatment team members.
School-Based Services
The purpose of school-based mental health services is to ensure that children with emotional and/or behavioral disorders are provided needed mental health services in a safe, familiar, and nurturing environment while enhancing and improving their academic experiences. School-based treatment and support interventions that are designed to identify emotional disturbances and/or assist parents, teachers, and counselors in developing comprehensive strategies for addressing these disturbances. School-based services also include counseling or other school-based programs for emotionally disturbed children, adolescents, and their families within the school, home and community environment.
An example of an appropriate referral to School-Based services would be: a 15 year old who is doing poorly in school, is oppositional and defiant, and is isolating himself from others.
Case Management/Services Coordination
Case management/services coordination programs provide goal-oriented and individualized supports focusing on improved self-sufficiency for the persons served through assessment, planning, linkage, advocacy, coordination, and monitoring activities. Successful services coordination results in community opportunities and increased independence for the persons served. Programs may provide occasional supportive counseling and crisis intervention services, when allowed by regulatory or funding authorities
Mental Health Paraprofessional Intervention- Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services and
The purpose of intensive Mental Health Paraprofessional Intervention is to enable the client to be maintained in the
most normalized, least restrictive setting as possible, and to prevent unnecessary, inappropriate institutionalization.Mental Health Paraprofessionals will work with the client and family on behavioral issues that occur in the home, school, and community. The MHPP serves on the treatment team and assists professional staff with the execution of the treatment plan. They also assist with securing community services that might be available to the client and the client's family.
Rehabilitation Specialist, work in the residential milieu and/or off-site in the community (school, neighborhood venues, and home) to provide children with family-centered, strength-based intensive case management services. You will assist clients in their efforts to build upon existing family and community support and resource systems and collaborate with team clinicians, psychiatrist, and mentors to ensure effective delivery of treatment plans.
